25 Years as a LMT, Trusted in Wellness

This year marks a special anniversary for me! As of August 23, 2026, I celebrate 25 years as a licensed massage therapist, following my graduation from the Atlanta School of Massage in 2001.

This milestone is especially meaningful because I have often read that the “typical” career lifespan for a massage therapist is only about six years, a statistic I once doubted but came to better understand through practice, reflection, and patient listening.

Twenty-five years after my career in massage began, I am still grateful to be doing work that I love, and even more grateful for the thousands of clients who have allowed me to be part of their wellness journey, sharing trust, progress, and quiet moments of relief along the way.

Taking a Leap Into Massage Therapy

Before becoming a massage therapist, I worked in medical sales. Although I had a successful career, I wanted something different: work that would allow me to combine my mind, hands, and business experience while helping people reduce stress and feel better.

With careful consideration, I decided to take the leap and apply to massage therapy school.

In December 2000, I was accepted into the Atlanta School of Massage, with classes beginning in January 2001. The excitement quickly became a reality when I discovered just how much there was to learn!

At that time, the full-time program required 720 hours of education and hands-on training. The rigorous program included detailed study of muscles, bones, nerves, anatomy, body mechanics, and massage techniques.

Looking back, committing to that program was one of the best career decisions I have ever made!

From Massage Student to Mobile Chair Massage Therapist

Even before attending massage school, I was drawn to massage. During my years traveling for work, I often sought out massage in different cities rather than spending my evenings at long corporate dinners and events.

It was healthier, and I always felt better the next day!

A special thank-you goes to all of those early “pretend clients,” including my husband, who spent countless hours on my massage table while I learned and practiced everything from techniques to the art of proper draping.

After becoming licensed in 2001, I continued developing my skills and eventually discovered the tremendous value of on-site chair massage. Chair massage provides clients with focused stress relief and muscle tension relief in a short amount of time, which fits perfectly into today’s busy work environments.

In October of 2006, my career took another exciting turn and I founded Corporate Massage Kneads. This year, I celebrate 20 years as a small business owner.

25 Years Later: Still Learning and Growing

One of the things I appreciate most about massage therapy is that there is always more to learn. I continue to study the human body and fine-tune my techniques because every client is different.

With chair massage, each stroke is intentional. The goal is to help release tension, encourage relaxation, and support better movement – all within a short, convenient session.

Today, Corporate Massage Kneads provides mobile chair massage for corporate wellness events throughout Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, DC.

The incredible therapists who work with my company are experienced, licensed, and professional. They understand how to provide effective chair massage in a corporate environment. Our team of therapists is an extension of myself while showcasing their professionalism, skill, and care at every event.

Why Corporate Chair Massage Matters

“Highly recommend! Great communication, very professional, fair price, and a terrific massage technician. Highly recommend!”

That is exactly why I continue to believe in the value of workplace massage.

A Career Filled With Gratitude

When I look back at the decision I made more than two decades ago, I feel incredibly grateful.

What began as a career change has become a lifelong profession, a business, and a way to help thousands of people experience the benefits of massage.
