Dress for the office & mobile chair massage this summer!

Business stops for nothing, not even the weather. Now that it’s hot outside of your office—and, depending on your air-conditioning system, probably inside as well—what do you wear to work? What is socially and professionally acceptable? Will your boss cringe at your new duds?  What do you wear when receiving a mobile chair massage?

Check out these guidelines to see how you can make your wardrobe look professional without sacrificing your comfort to the temperature.

  1. Leave the shorts at home. They do not belong in the office. Trade them for a thin pair of slacks or a simple, knee-length skirt. Simple, streamlined clothing will help keep you cool and professional.
  2. Keep your shoulders covered. Spaghetti straps and tank tops tend to give off an unprofessional image. Short sleeves are office-appropriate, so long as they are clean-cut dress shirts, golf shirts, or blouses.
  3. Absolutely no flip-flops! Dressy sandals, however, can be appropriate for women. For men, a breathable loafer or dress shoe looks spiffy.
  4. Women: keep your necklines conservative. No need to wear turtlenecks, but remember that you want to showcase your business, not yourself.
  5. Men: make sure all collars lay flat, regardless of whether you’re wearing a golf shirt or your favorite button-down.
  6. You can lose the jackets (or swap them for thinner ones). Jackets usually dress up outfits, so this rule can vary depending upon your individual office. In most workplaces, a nice button-down or polo shirt is acceptable.
  7. Socks and hosiery should still be worn. Bare legs and feet can be okay, but only if they are well-maintained. If your pedicure is 4 weeks old, it’s probably best to go with a close-toed option.
  8. When in doubt, go thin, not less. If you think you’ll be hot, find a thinner item of clothing over a more revealing one. Business dress should be conservative and classy.
  9. My personal suggestion is always to have a light jacket or sweater as you never know who is controlling the air conditioning!

Here are our suggestions on how to best dress for a mobile chair massage!

Embrace summer with mobile chair massages!

mobile chair massagesWith temperatures rising, humidity increasing, and blazing hot sun rays in full effect, it’s hard to take time for yourself. Summer is a great time to enjoy some relaxation and have fun, but many stresses can come with it as well. Making sure to stay cool and satisfied is very important. Corporate Massage Kneads is your company that offers mobile chair massages in Maryland.

I have decided to make a short list to help all of you stay stress-free and relaxed, so you can enjoy a stress-free summer without any worries.

Hydration: I decided to start with the most important aspect of this list, which is making sure you stay completely hydrated throughout the hot summer months. Most people think they are getting all the water that they need and don’t think too much of it. However, it has been proven that everyone should be consuming an estimated amount of 2 liters of water per day. There have been case studies revealing that many people do not reach that goal in a day. So even if you’re home relaxing, at work, or outside in the sun, water is important, and the heat can cause our bodies to require it more than usual.

Exercise: This is important any time of the year, but I thought I would touch up on exercise. It is critical that you keep a plan that you may keep throughout the other seasons of the year, but it is okay to alter it. Summer alterations usually consist of more indoor activities, including an indoor pool to swim laps, yoga, indoor gyms, and many more possibilities. Staying inside more is very important during the summer because everyone wants to stay cool and there is a very good middle ground when it comes to still getting your daily workout.

Skin and Eye Protection: As mentioned before, the sun’s rays can have a very nice feeling, but can also cause some major problems, skin-wise. While it may sound silly, make sure you put in a bit of effort to apply some sunscreen regardless of what you may be doing outside that day. There are many different variants of sunscreens ranging from numbers such as 10, 15, and 20 to numbers in the 100s. If you’re going to the city for a walk and will only be outside for a little bit, consider a light sunscreen to cover sensitive areas such as your face. If you’re going to the beach, however, make sure you get the number that fits your skin type the best and cover up! Your skin is very important and maintaining it will be imperative to your health. And don’t forget your eyes, sunglasses are always necessary when going outside in the sun!

With all that said and done, staying healthy during the summer doesn’t have to be a nightmare! Make sure you don’t let it get to you, and one of the best ways to wind down at the end of a stressful day is a chair massage from Massage Kneads, a mobile chair massage company based in Maryland. We know the stresses that summer can cause and we want to help you wind down.

5 stars!  Great way to de-stress!

“This is one of the best 1/4 hour I can spend to de-stress at work. Tension relief in my neck after sitting at my computer for long hours is great therapy. I am making this massage a regular part of my routine!”

Chair massage and the dog days of summer

Mobile chair massageAs a dog owner, I like to think of the many benefits of taking your dog to the office. I discovered this to be a new trend when I visited local shops these past few months!  Lately, I have seen dogs out with their owners at a coffee shop on warm summer mornings. Dogs seem to enhance our daily activities, making otherwise mundane tasks enjoyable just like mobile chair massage.

What are the benefits of letting your dog tag along on your daily errands you ask? It tends to be a “win-win” solution for employers and employees alike.  For employers that are more flexible with this arrangement, it allows for less worry with employees working around caring for their dogs. Employees can stay longer at work finishing a project without the worry of beating the clock to meet the expectations of their dog at home requiring their attention.

Bringing a dog to work encourages physical activity in the owner during the work day which allows for a refreshing recharge and a breath of fresh air in between conference calls and meetings. It also encourages bonding between co-workers and their pets, which leads to a more positive work atmosphere!

In researching this blog, I was not surprised to find that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that owning a pet can decrease blood pressure and cholesterol levels.  It further went on to state that there are increased opportunities for exercise daily and more opportunities for socialization inside and outside of that 40-hour work week.

Thus, I ask you, what is your office protocol for having pets in the office? Maybe it’s time to reconsider this as part of your wellness program! The benefits are many as long as the owners are in tune with their pets within their working environment.

Would the Human Resources department be open to other low-cost ideas to promote wellness? If so, why not consider my company, Massage Kneads? My mobile chair massage business based in Maryland has many options to offer chair massage – both employee and employer-paid massage.

One client sent us this testimonial updating the difference a day with on-site chair massage!

Chair massage for a healthy lifestyle

Many of us would love to live healthily. Our society is filled with motivational ads, diet commercials, new fitness plans to “get fit now,” and pictures of annoyingly beautiful people who say “You, too, could look like me one day.” However, is all of the propaganda motivational? It might be for a week (like the first week in January when the hoards hit the gyms to try to fulfill their New Year’s resolutions).  Chair massage offers immediate benefits while in your office.

Yet, this motivation is short-lived and not a consistent means to keep you active, eating healthy, and continually fighting for yourself and your health. Check out some ways below for how you can stay motivated towards caring for yourself in the way that you deserve:

  1. Do not try to “fix” yourself. Instead, try to be healthy because you appreciate what your body does for you. If you are inspired to start living more healthily because you hate how you look, don’t appreciate your lack of stamina, or overall don’t appreciate your body for what it does, then this motivation will be short-lived and will most likely result in self-hatred and discouragement.
  2. Focus on what you CAN do, not on what you can’t. Everyone has their physical limits, even Olympic athletes. None of us are invincible, and there will always be room for improvement in whatever physical activity we pursue. Instead of beating yourself up for not being able to do a certain exercise, be proud of yourself for trying and for doing anything at all. The hardest part of working out sometimes is putting on tennis shoes- you can do more than you think.
  3. Reward yourself often. When you are on the road to becoming healthy, the worst thing that you can do is fight for one specific goal (that might be months away in the making) and not celebrate the small victories. Instead of striving for one big goal (such as a huge weight loss or training for a race), set smaller goals (such as losing 2 pounds, running 2 miles, etc.). By celebrating the small victories, you maintain a positive mindset toward yourself and will be more motivated to keep going (instead of thinking of how far you have to go until you reach the ultimate goal.)
  4. Chair massage and table massage help keep the aches and pains to a minimum while building back strength, flexibility, and a regular workout routine!

Everyone is different, and on your journey to a healthy life, you should never compare yourself to others. Embrace the small victories and realize that you are often your own worst enemy. Be proud of yourself!

Awesome
“I’ve never done a chair massage before, but this is well worth the money. I was fighting some back pain after a sports injury for about a week until meeting with Donna and I’m feeling a million times better now.”

Corporate Massage Kneads would love to provide some relaxing chair massage or other wellness services to help you on your journey, especially when the office is trying to be healthier together. Schedule massage therapists to come in a month after you start the health initiative to be a small reward, or bring in a nutritionist to talk about how to practically eat healthier.

We would love to service any “kneads” you have!

Avoid “tech-neck!” Chair massage helps!

chair massageEver wonder what is the BEST tool to avoid excessive neck strain and pain? Here are some answers in this blog. I suggest stretching and chair massage, of course.

As a mobile chair massage therapist for 23 years now, I can attest to the many comments about tight muscles and strain during routine office work. The clients continue to work on neck pain day in and day out.

With some simple stretching and ice therapy, the pain would decrease and mobility would increase.  Completing simple exercises would be valuable time spent to avoid the pain and sometimes tension headaches that are commonplace in the office.

Solutions for you

After learning about how bad posture can affect your mood and your energy, you might want to try a few changes in your lifestyle. The first one is relatively easy and can help show you results over some time. Changing your desk setup to promote proper posture is a small change that can help you in incredible ways. There are a wide variety of ways you could go about this, whether you buy chair pads to help you sit up straight or reposition your computer for easier access to the screen and keyboard.

Here is a list of some simple exercises:

Side-to-side stretching; moving your head slowly to the right side and holding for five to ten seconds. Complete three times. Repeat on the opposite side.

Ear to Ear Tilt; simply tilt your right ear to your right shoulder.  Using the right arm, GENTLY pull the head down to lower the right ear. Complete three times. Repeat on the opposite side.

Pectoral Stretch; Stand in the doorway, with the right foot in front while holding on to the door frame. Lean forward with a comfortable amount of body weight.  Hold for eight to ten seconds.  Complete three times. Repeat on the opposite side.

Spending years using bad posture is a difficult habit to break and many of us have yet to do so. This can cause pain in your back that is very hard to get rid of. To take a step in the right direction, I also suggest a company-wide chair massage from Massage Kneads.

Our experts will make sure to relieve pain from the common problem areas you have from bad posture. With this pain gone, expect to have a happier mood overall and increased energy levels! Request your free quote today and experience pain relief.

Is Cupping a form of massage?

chair massageThe summer Olympics are right around the corner in July! When watching the Olympics with Michael Phelps, many questioned the large circles on his back as he swam to take the GOLD in many events. Since then, many clients have asked our therapists, is cupping a form of massage?  If you have seen even a few minutes of the swimming, you will notice the round spots that adorn the backs of many high-profile swimmers.

This type of treatment is gaining more and more interest as high-profile athletes and celebrities alike seek this type of treatment and the results show when wearing these markings as a result of cupping.

Cupping is taught in local massage schools which shows how to properly position the cups to ensure proper technique.  Cupping is often referred to as a safe and legal way to help these world-class athletes (and movie stars) with body strengthening.

Is cupping considered a different type of massage? It depends on your provider, their certification in this field, and your tolerance for this type of treatment. Often massage therapists do offer this treatment in addition to typical massage given on a massage table.

What are some of the benefits of this type of treatment?

  • Joint Mobilization
  • Lymph Drainage
  • Athletic Enhancement
