Six tips + chair massage bring productivity!
Ergonomic and productive workspaces are very “in” right now. As many large corporations draw their office staff back into the office, it is important to have functional workspaces to help transition workers. Here are
some tips that I have learned from different journals, websites, and daily newspapers. Chair massage is an obvious draw!
Productivity is key here so one way to maximize your tasks is to clear the clutter on the desktop, files, and walls. As time-consuming as that sounds, the payoff is big to keep a fresh clear desktop to allow our minds to focus on the tasks at hand.
Here are some ideas for small investments which pay off BIG!
Digital scanner
A scanner is a beneficial investment as it saves paper and time in finding important documents and space in the office.
Proper lighting
Natural light is ideal from windows and when not feasible, recessed lighting will also work. Avoiding desk lamps and floor lamps is key as it takes up valuable floor space and adds to overall clutter.
Double monitors
Working from two monitors side by side allows for more flexibility with incoming emails, important reference documents, and productivity.
Comfortable common spaces to collaborate
Working collectively on large projects seems to be the trend now. Comfortable and inviting common spaces allow for dialogue and comfort during long work weeks.
Updated kitchen spaces including hot beverages!
An online survey (www.buildings.com) indicated that “73% of office workers said a well-stocked kitchen would make them happier at work, with 57% indicating that it could lead to increased productivity.” What other items would bring some happiness? Coffee, upscale teas, and possibly hot chocolate bring warmth and comfort while boosting productivity.
Clean and efficient offices
Having a regular cleaning to take away debris and trash from each office space goes a long way to boost and make the office more pleasant. An extra seating area in a larger office invites others to bring their ideas for bigger projects.
What else brings productivity and refreshment to your workday? Mobile chair massage enhances the workday experience with many benefits such as:
- Increased morale and productivity.
- Relief of stress and fatigue.
- Relaxation to muscles and soothes the spirit.
- Opens the mind and increases alertness.
- Clears thinking and releases the individual’s innate creativity.
- Increases brain power and sharpens the senses.

YES to chair massage & efficiency!

Mobile chair massage can help with productivity!
The morning alarm buzzes early now that I have high schoolers that greet the school bus in the dark for the first-morning school bell. The buzz starts early and continues throughout the day during the week. If you are like me, there are too many details and schedules to consider each day. The good news is that time management skills can be learned and can really make an impact on daily results! Chair massage helps with productivity in and outside of the office!
Here are some ideas to help with your time management and efficiency.
Plan your day each day
Take the first ten minutes of the daily workday to prioritize your day. This is important to list the order of how you will start and end each day. Some office workers color code, others prefer to list. Whatever your method, the list must contain your “to do” items in order of priority.
Delegate, delegate, delegate!
Some workers are in touch with their greatest strengths and stick to those that can bring the most results. Have you taken the time to do this later? As jobs and priorities change, so do our strengths with given projects, clients, etc. What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? Most importantly, what can you allow others to help to manage skills that are not your strongest?
Rush the unimportant
This is a curious concept as many workers take more time to complete the unimportant which just allows for mental clutter throughout the day. If it is a simple bill to be paid, a follow-up call or text promptly completes the task and moves on to the more important business of the day.
Compress the time for completion of assigned projects
Allowing for an open-ended due date allows workers to drag through a project vs. one that has a set deadline. I remember in college when projects and papers were due and the relief that followed when completed. I try to manage this with long-term projects in order to clear the desk and my mind each week.
Schedule your quitting time each day when in the office
What is your routine for leaving the office? Do you have a set time to pack up and head out? This may be another key to success as it ends the day and again sorts the priorities over and over again each new day and week. One example of this is the organization and time management skills that are used the week prior to going out on vacation. Typically, most office workers busily prepare for the week off by completing most if not all of their outstanding projects and items before turning off the office light for their scheduled vacation.
Schedule your wellness programs in the office NOW
Mobile chair massage, chair yoga, and other wellness programs enhance productivity throughout the day and week. The benefits of mobile chair massage are many including increased productivity, improved mental acuity, decreased stress, decreased absenteeism due to stress-related illnesses along with fewer aches and pains from prolonged sitting.
A return client emailed us this testimonial within the past week.
“Everyone at Columbia, MD office raved about the chair massages! Their only complaint was that the massages couldn’t last all day. Thank you so much for all of your help! Chase Brexton will definitely be using Massage Kneads for future events.”

Chair massage keeps staff in the office!
The days are lighter longer and some have their sites set on Memorial Day weekend! While I was at a yoga class earlier this morning, the instructor reminded the class that we can now officially wear white again. Her statement made me wonder. Do employees really abide by this outdated rule like many others? Many outdated wellness programs bring little interest, unlike chair massage!
Studies have shown that hot weather can cause an increase in levels of aggression. The number of crimes committed in large cities rises during the hot summer months. Large companies like AAA report that drivers are more aggressive with their driving behaviors.
Bringing this stream of thought back into the office, hot weather often leads to discomfort. I know this is sometimes an issue in my own house so I can only imagine how it widely varies in the workplace. I often see clients in long sleeves and sweaters arriving for this chair massage appointment, even in the summertime!
Summertime also tempts the office staff with bright sunnies skies and dreams of being poolside. Obvious sunburns can also show off time spent away from the desk.
Summertime dress is often a concern. Flip flops or no flip flops? Are sandals too casual? Most HR departments set the guidelines for these concerns according to the internal dress code. What is your office protocol? Have standards been set and enforced? If the business is a manufacturing facility, closed-toed shoes are often required year-round.
Spring and summer are ideal to refresh the interest and encourage employees to stay in the office rather than daydream about what waits for them following typical business hours!
For example, meditation can help with anxiety as it calms the mind and refreshes. This could help relieve the stress that hot and sometimes lengthy commutes to and from the office cause. Yoga classes strengthen, stretch, and can even warm up the body if the employee is sensitive to colder AC temps. On-site chair massage can increase productivity, decrease stress, and calm the body from the strain of sitting many hours at the desk.
I was pleased to receive this testimonial recently as a new client sent me this kind of follow-up.
5 stars! Amazing!
“Just recently scheduled my first massage with Massage Kneads. I was blown away. It was only 15 minutes but was 100% worth it and kept me relaxed for the rest of the day. I will definitely be looking forward to my next visit and I would HIGHLY recommend Massage Kneads. Thank YOU!!!!”
With reviews like this one, I will continue to work all summer long side by side with others who are doing the same!

Chair massage improves movement!
Over the last few centuries, the image of the average American worker has changed significantly. During the Industrial Revolution, most male workers labored in factories. With new technologies and America becoming more consumer-based, most jobs now are located sitting in an office building. Movement is the key to wellness vs. sitting. Chair massage can help to increase flexibility and movement.
Since many forms of employment are becoming increasingly sedentary, it is taking a toll on our health. The typical office job today requires less labor-intensive duties than the average job 100 years ago, which included more factory labor. A new report shows the typical office worker spends longer sitting each day than a typical retiree.
This report looks into the typical lifestyle of an office worker and highlights why many people are at risk of developing obesity or are already obese. Heart disease, Type 2 Diabetes, cancers, and poor mental health have all been linked to sedentary behavior. A desk-bound job requires little in the way of physical activity.
It surprised me when the study stated that the typical office worker spends more time sitting than a typical person aged over 75 years old. Middle-aged men spend close to half an hour longer seated every weekday than a retiree. Working women aged under 45 fall only six minutes short of the activity levels of elderly people. In order to prevent all of the horrible diseases that are linked to sedentary behavior, America’s workers must become more active.
These figures reflect the changing forms of employment, where manufacturing has shifted to services and the tendency towards a longer-hours working culture. With jobs no longer being as labor-intensive, workplace wellness is more important than ever. The typical U.S. adult spends nine to 10 hours each day sitting. This is such a level of inactivity that even a 30- or 60-minute workout cannot counteract its effects.
In order for workers to become more active, the workplace should encourage employees to take more exercise in their leisure time and encourage the use of technology like sit-to-stand desks, which can move up and down, to reduce work sedentary time. A related technological idea is the treadmill desk that enables a person to ‘walk’ whilst working. These are desks with a modified treadmill base attached to a counter-level work surface. Most belts are designed to go at a low speed, within the 1-2 miles per hour range.

Why schedule your chair massage event?
Today’s office workers can achieve little milestones in little ways to bring healthy (and happiness) each day. Regular movement, chair massage, and a positive attitude can do wonders during our normal, routine tasks.
How can an office worker increase productivity while bringing healthy habits to work?
Here are some ideas were taken from the Inc.com article. (http://www.inc.com/john-rampton/15-ways-to-increase-productivity-at-work.html)
Take exercise breaks.
Using work time to exercise may actually help improve productivity, according to this published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. If possible, build in set times during the week for taking a walk or going to the gym. Getting your blood pumping could be just what’s needed to clear your head and get your focus back.
Take regular breaks.
It sounds counterintuitive, but taking scheduled breaks can actually help improve concentration. Some research has shown that taking short breaks during long tasks helps you to maintain a constant level of performance; while working at a task without breaks leads to a steady decline in performance.
Corporate on-site chair massage can be a welcomed break for employees to “re-set” for the day. As you know, corporate massage decreases stress and increases productivity.
Give yourself something nice to look at.
It may sound unlikely, but some research shows outfitting an office with aesthetically pleasing elements–like plants–can increase productivity by up to 15 percent. Jazz up your office space with pictures, candles, flowers, or anything else that puts a smile on your face.
Schedule a mobile chair massage event!
These are some of the benefits of receiving a chair massage:

Benefits of Mobile Chair Massage
I think that most people can agree that receiving a massage feels fantastic. Relaxed muscles, a soothing atmosphere, and a time of rest can certainly bring a smile to anyone’s face. And while massage therapy feels wonderful, there are also significant benefits that might make you think about scheduling an appointment sooner rather than later. Chair massage therapy eases pain and reduces muscle inflammation that could debilitate movement and bodily function. A mere ten minutes of massage can greatly reduce aches and stiffness, allowing for a fuller range of motion. There are many benefits of mobile chair massage.
While massage therapy soothes physical aches and pains, it also manages anxiety and depression that many of us have experienced at one time or another. The work environment can be full of fast-paced, demanding situations that could deplete one’s productivity and work efficiency. Massage decreases cortisol levels, a stress hormone, lowers blood pressure and increases the neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine so that one feels happier and more relaxed. Also, massage can improve healthy sleep. Not only can a relaxing massage make one drowsy during the time the massage, but it promotes healthy patterns of regular sleep due to its effect on delta waves, the type of brain waves associated with deep sleep.
While massage soothes tense muscles, research also suggests that massage therapy improves the functioning of the body’s immune system. The results from one study conducted in 2010 suggested that massage could escalate the body’s white blood cells responsible for fighting disease. Not only can it boost the immune system, but some research has also implied that massage can deplete PMS symptoms, such as bloating and mood swings.
Another key benefit is massage’s effect on brainpower. We all know the lull that overtakes our brains after working in the office all day. A 1996 study conducted by the Touch Research Institute found that people were more alert and efficient after receiving a 15-minute chair massage. Also, a short massage can alleviate headaches and can considerably reduce a person’s amount of migraines and the level of pain experienced during a headache. In addition, massage can help people undergoing treatment for severe illnesses, such as cancer, because it can alleviate fatigue, pain, depression, and more in patients. Finally, massage can have beauty benefits that can make one look younger and more refreshed. The increased blood flow induced by massage therapy can add vitality to one’s skin and hair and can give a person a beautiful and rejuvenated glow.
There are many benefits to massage. With the stress of work and everyday life, massage might be just the thing that you need to feel relaxed and uplifted. It eases pain, improves health, boosts brainpower, and reduces stress and depression. A perfect pick-me-up during a tough workday, an on-site chair massage in your office could be a wonderful way to create a positive atmosphere and boost the productivity of employees.
