7 healthy wellness tips when not ABLE to enjoy mobile chair massage…

Employees are working now more than EVER due to COVID. The office hours are blurry when managing our daily work schedule, kids at home, and the LONG “TO DO” list. Sadly, chair massage requests have decreased as employees are working from home for the time being.

The question remains on how to best incorporate movement to decrease prolonged hours of sitting at one’s desk.  Sadly, many wellness programs that include on-site chair massage, yoga, Pilates, and fitness centers are not typically available with the current situation due to the COVID virus.

What are the other key activities that can help with wellness on a daily basis?

  • Increased movement
  • Healthier snacks (fruit, high protein snacks, etc.)
  • Smart computer habits
  • Soft relaxing music if enjoyed
  • Stretching routinely during the day
  • Increased water consumption
  • Short breaks between tasks to bring more clarity and focus

Half of the battle would be to remember to get up and move around. Movement is the often the key here and here are some tips to remember to go just that – MOVE!  Apple watches and cell phones both have settings that remind us to stand up and step away from that spreadsheet or project.  Virtual yoga stretches, short exercise videos help to create new ways to enjoy exercise right in our own office and homes.

Corporate Massage Kneads continues to think of all that have had such drastic changes and hope that we can all dream of happier and more normal days to come.

**COVID update**

Corporate Massage Kneads will look forward to the day when we can offer corporate chair massage when safe for all parties AND when employees are back in the office.

WE miss you!

Pandemic Office Ergonomics; 3 causes of pain with solutions

For me, the most comfortable spot in my house is on my chaise lounge. It offers comfort and security during these shifting workplaces due to the coronavirus virus.  The lighting is bright with many windows behind me and this spot keeps me from other distractions in my home; teenagers working on schoolwork, noises from others, and our little dog, Jinx, that roams about.  All was well and good until several days of sitting there proved otherwise. The aches and pains of poor ergonomics took me back to my solitude and the poor lighting of my desk. I miss the days of offering chair massage in corporate offices. It kept me away from the desk and actively moving.

What are the common causes of continued stress while working in a different environment at home? Here are some common ones that can be managed with slight changes.

Three common causes of stress to the office worker:

  1. Comfortable sofas and chairs offer little back support which in turn taxes the shoulders and spine.
  2. Zoom conference calls prolong poor posture as there is no time to adjust your seating during the call.
  3. Cell phones contribute to posture stress that continues unless stretched and managed.

Solutions for these common causes of stress to the office worker:

  1. Move from the comfortable sofa and chairs to an office-type chair with more solid back support.
  2. Try different seating and locations for your next Zoom call to maximize support for prolonged sitting during these conference calls.
  3. When using your cell phone, bring the phone up by bending your elbow followed by looking down with your eyes, then the top of your spine.

Massage Kneads would welcome the opportunity to help you and your staff settle back into the office. Mobile chair massage is a wellness program that offers many benefits. We will be back to offering corporate chair massage when the timing is right for ALL parties.

Why “knot” offer a wellness program when your employees settle back into the office? With fourteen years of offering chair massage, we’ve “got your back!”

This testimonial says it all.

Great Refresher! “Nothing like getting a relaxing update on the shoulders and back from hunching over a keyboard. I needed it more than I thought I did!”

Mobile chair massage and an active lifestyle have benefits!

A sedative lifestyle is not only boring—it’s also dangerous to your health. According to recent research, people who spend all day sitting at work are at risk for at least 35 diseases. These illnesses range from diabetes to osteoporosis to cancer. The good news is that even small amounts of activity make a big difference; just 10 minutes of walking restores all of the vasculature function in your legs reduced by 50%. Chair massage can minimize aches and pains on the shoulders, neck, and head!

Aside from avoiding diseases, here are some other benefits of an active lifestyle:

  1. Protects your future mobility. Regular exercise combats the weakening of your physical performance as you age. Cardiovascular fitness helps to increase your metabolism and improve your muscle health, which improves your overall fitness and health.
  2. Boosts your brainpower. Increased blood flow to the brain improves your brain’s ability to function.
  3. It improves lung function. Properly functioning lungs are attributed to people who have strong memories.
  4. Improves sleep. Exercise helps you fall asleep faster and get better quality sleep. This deep sleep helps your body to heal and renew itself.
  5. Bonus! Receiving chair massage aids to bring nutrients to the muscles which increase the range of motion to allow for increased physical activity.  Employees that receive on-site chair massages write that they feel looser, less stressed, and energized following a massage session.

One client enjoyed her mobile chair massage and updated Corporate Massage Kneads with this testimonial. It demonstrates that mobile chair massage can make a difference!

5 STARS! Soothing to the body, mind, and soul
“Soothing to the body, mind, and soul. This was my 1st massage ever so I was a little unsure but David is so personable and has such an easy manner about him that I felt very comfortable. The conversation was easy and unforced and I left there feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I felt so great in fact that I immediately went and signed up for another massage! I have had 3 so far and intend to have many more.”

Six time management tips & chair massage to increase productivity!

Do you ever feel like there’s just too much to do in too little time? You’re not alone in feeling that way. Have no fear! Many small changes can make a BIG impact on your workweek.  Wellness programs including mobile chair massage can calm the mind and body to tackle that never-ending “TO DO” list. Chair massage increases productivity EVERY DAY!

Here are some time management tips for those of us who feel that there are simply too few hours in the day:

  1. Schedule your days. It may seem tedious, but scheduling appointments even for your routine activities can help eliminate wasted time. Take a few minutes each morning to plan your meal times, your errands, and other tasks to prevent yourself from idly wasting time.
  2. Schedule time for interruptions. We’re all human; a lot of what we do doesn’t seem to go as planned. Leave buffer time in your schedule to allow for emergencies and appointments that go over their allotted time. Sometimes more time is necessary, and the excess time can help reduce your stress level.
  3. Create a list of extra tasks. If, by chance, you find that you’ve blocked too much excess time in your schedule, have a list of extra tasks ready. By tackling these in your excess time, you increase your productivity without the stress of a tightly-packed schedule!
  4. Learn to say “no.” Even though it was probably your first word as a child, “no” has become the hardest word for you to utter as an adult. Let’s face it: if you find yourself to be too busy, you’re probably spreading yourself too thin. Remember that you usually don’t want to sacrifice quality for quantity. Take a deep breath and say “no.” The world will carry on.
  5. Begin with the end in mind. Set SMART goals for yourself and continuously evaluate your progress toward them. If something’s not going as you hoped, change something.
  6. Stay away from perfectionism. While achieving goals is great, it needs to be balanced by results. Don’t use your inner perfectionist as an excuse to procrastinate. Be confident in yourself and don’t let one detail keep you from moving on.

“Desk jockey” & Chair massage!

business-businessman-busy-young-adult-office-workplace-work-career-meeting-welcoming-phone-laptop-computer-it-computing-typing-1622397Today’s office worker is more stationary than ever. With looming deadlines and poor posture, the modern-day American office worker is often complaining of a stiff and sore neck and back muscles.

According to “a study from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Microsoft,…holding a tablet too low in your lap can force the muscles and bones in the neck into an unnatural posture, which may strain or aggravate other muscles, nerves, tendons, ligaments, and spinal discs. Over time, poor posture chips away at the range of motion in your joints. The neck problems described in the study above — and repetitive stress injuries from tasks such as typing — may occur, too.”[1]

Onsite chair massage therapists from Massage Kneads often get requests to rub (and fix) neck and shoulder stress due to poor posture, long hours at the computer, and using handheld phones.  Once the neck and shoulder muscles are released by onsite mobile chair massage.  The client benefits from chair massage by reporting a better range of motion, renewed energy and increased productivity! A quick 15- or 30-minute mobile chair massage can do wonders to get you back to feeling fresh and ready to tackle anything!

Engaging in simple activities such a shrugging your shoulders, twisting your torso, or taking a quick walk around the office building often gives the boost we “knead” to complete that big project or make that difficult follow-up phone call.

Stretching and onsite corporate chair massage go hand in hand for optimum health!
