A healthy holiday + chair massage

The holidays can be filled with fun family gatherings, big shopping trips, and lots of food (emphasis on the “lots”). While all of these things can be exciting and enjoyable, the holiday season can also be extremely stressful for a lot of reasons. A lot of us feel the pressures of overwhelming to-do lists and high expectations during the holiday season.
Maintaining healthy habits can be difficult, especially during the holiday season. But making small changes, or committing to one or a few healthy habits can help encourage additional healthy choices. For example, healthy eating can inspire other healthy lifestyle choices both in and outside of the office! Another idea is to schedule an in-office wellness event our mobile chair massage service in Baltimore, and throughout Maryland!
Though you may have stayed on track from January to October, the busy months of November and December and their associated holidays can challenge your progress.
While there are many ways to get off track from your health goals, here are five big threats to healthy eating that many of us are confronted with during the holidays:
- Getting off a regular schedule. The holidays are busy time that can make you feel that everything is a greater priority than your health. This is not entirely true. While you can hold space for other priorities, such as spending quality time with your family during the holidays, you can still work out, eat well, and also prioritize spending time in the kitchen cooking quick but nutritious and healthy meals. Schedule specific time for yourself to cook and to exercise, rather than just “winging it” at the last minute and hoping you can find time.
- Indulging in too many “treats”. While it is still healthy to treat yourself once in a while with a dessert or a break from exercise, it’s important to keep in mind why your health and wellness are important to you and how hard you’ve worked to get where you are. Don’t be so rigid with yourself that you don’t allow yourself to have a few treats and enjoy the holidays, but also remember not to overdo it and to prioritize sticking to your health and fitness goals.
- Trying to cheer yourself up. Seasonal affective disorder is fairly common during the winter months. Longer nights, shorter hours of daylight, and colder weather can often lower people’s mood and can sometimes lead to seasonal depression. Make sure that you get some sunlight for at least 30 minutes during the day, and try not to seek out extra food and sweets as mood boosting substitutes.
- Becoming bored. If you keep cooking the same recipes and doing the same workout routine all year long, sooner or later you’re going to get sick of it. It’s normal to feel uninterested after a while when you’re doing the same thing over and over again. Instead, try mixing things up by looking up new healthy recipes and finding exercises and workouts to add to your fitness regimen. If you typically go running, try boxing or HIIT workouts. Tired of yoga? Try swimming or qi gong.
- Holiday Parties and Gatherings. Commit to “staying in shape” this holiday season by choosing fruits, veggies, and other healthy options before other foods at the next holiday party. If the holiday you’re attending is potluck style, bring a dish that’s healthy and nutritious so you know you’ll have at least one healthy option to choose from. If you’re eating from a buffet or appetizer table, start by filling up more on healthier options before moving to the snacks and treats.
Staying healthy can be hard – there’s no denying that. The added stress of the holidays can often make your goals to stay in shape even harder. Give Corporate Massage Kneads a call and let us help you prioritize your health and well-being this holiday season. Don’t let the stress get in the way of your health. Instead, focus on your wellness and make yourself a priority. You’re worth it!
Enjoy the holiday season, and stay healthy while doing it! Have your HR department request a quote from Corporate Massage Kneads to schedule your next in-office wellness program with our mobile chair massage services!

Chair massage “cheers” up holiday parties!
The most wonderful time of the year is here, and the holidays are fast approaching!
With the new year just a few short weeks away, it’s time to think about your holiday celebrations!
With all the excitement of the holidays, there are often more daily stressors this time of year in addition to the ever-present daily to-do list that awaits us each morning at our desk. Starting in November and leading up to the December holidays, there are often numerous office parties, reunions, and get-togethers with family and friends for you to fit into your schedule, as well as sending out holiday cards, buying gifts for loved ones, and doing holiday cooking and baking. It’s a lot to keep up with, especially for those who still have the added stress of making your numbers or hours by the end of the year.
With all these stressors, along with the excitement of the holiday, why not couple your annual holiday party with a wellness event? Celebrating the holidays and your hard-working team, while giving them the gift of relaxation and stress-reduction this holiday season. The holidays are a time of joy and celebration, and holiday parties are a wonderful gathering to show your appreciation for your employees.

Winter fun AND mobile chair massage!
The leaves have turned, but not the “knead” for wellness, including chair massage.
It can sometimes feel hard to slow down, enjoy ourselves, and relax during the busy holiday season, but with the colder temperatures and lack of sunlight already zapping our energy, it’s important to keep our spirits up during these winter months.
Looking for ways to get more enjoyment out of the holiday season. Here are some ideas to bring a little extra fun this season:
- Build a snowman. If you’re fortunate enough to live somewhere that gets enough snow, take the hint from Anna and Elsa and make yourself a snow friend.
- Bake and decorate cookies with friends or family. Whether you’re 8 or 80, baking bonds us together. It may also help you check something off your to-do list if you bring them to a holiday party or potluck.
- Go ice skating. Indoor or outdoor, coordinated or klutzy, skating is a fun and festive way to enjoy winter exercise.
- Curl up with a good book. Pick one out yourself or get a recommendation from a friend. Relax and get cozy while reading your favorite genre.
- Mail a handwritten card to an old friend. Everyone loves a thoughtful letter. This is a great time of year to send well wishes to loved ones near and far.
- Volunteer. Whether at local soup kitchen, food pantry, pet shelter, or anywhere else that offers community care and support, giving back is a great way to spend your holidays!
- Walk or drive around town to admire holiday lights. If you live in or near a city, take a walk downtown after dark to enjoy all the holiday lights and decorations. If you live in a more rural or suburban area, take a drive to enjoy your festive neighbors’ commitment to decorating for the holidays.
Make your holidays a little brighter by doing a little something fun every day!
Consider bringing chair massage to your office or other preferred location this holiday season to spread cheer and give the gift of relaxation to yourself and others!

I got a 25-minute chair massage
“I wish more people would book this lady up. She is great at what she does and absolutely the most talented I’ve ever had. I look forward to seeing that she is coming to our company to give massages. She can create a spa-like atmosphere in a basic meeting room, and the quality of her work is beyond anything I’ve experienced at a full-scale spa (full body massage). She was also able to give recommendations for tensions I felt needed further looking into. Book her so she’ll keep coming!”

Happy Holidays from Corporate Massage Kneads!
Giving or receiving chair massage? Why choose?!
As the holiday season is upon us, many of us are rushing to the mall to pick out those perfect gifts for the special people
in our lives: our family and close friends. We may also be surprised to find an extra festive coworker who decides to give everyone in the office a Christmas present, which might leave us feeling rude or embarrassed with no gift to offer in return. As this scenario has happened to many of us before, some of us may buy a few extra generic gifts so we have something to give back to that extra festive person who offers them a present! Instead of buying a few extra generic gifts for coworkers, why not give the whole office something they will remember (and will be talking about) for months after the holiday season has come and gone? Give them the gift of an on-site chair massage this Christmas.
Think it’s too expensive? Not true! Maryland’s premier onsite chair massage company, Corporate Massage Kneads, offers a variety of chair massage packages that can fit just about any budget.
No time? Chair massage is not as time-consuming as one might expect. We offer on-site chair massage appointments with slots starting at just 10 to 15 minutes! And if there is no time during the workday for massage therapists to come in, office parties are a great time to schedule an on-site massage program that the whole office can enjoy!
Scheduling on-site chair massage therapists at the office during the holidays can help employees stay relaxed and refreshed during the stressful holiday season.
Plus, since you will receive a chair massage too, you’ll be able to reap the benefits from your own gift to your employees or coworkers!
Maryland’s onsite chair massage company, Corporate Massage Kneads’ clients say it best!

Enjoy a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is a great time to be thankful for great clients, spend time with loved ones, and bond over delicious food. Are you ever torn between loving the holidays and hating the calories they entail? This Thanksgiving, don’t sacrifice taste for nutrition. As you shop for your holiday celebrations this week, keep these options in mind:
- Sweet Potato Pecan Casserole: For this traditional treat, replace the butter with sweet potatoes with eggs to keep the fluffiness without the fat. Garnish the top with pecans for a tasty and nutritious alternative to sugary toppings.
- Herb and Apple Stuffing: By using whole wheat bread instead of white bread and apples instead of fatty fillers, take the guilt out of eating a second portion on Thanksgiving Day.
- Apple Crisp: Throw out your apple pie recipe and replace it with this delicious, healthier alternative. Enjoy the sweetness of the brown sugar crumble without the fat of a buttery pie crust.
- Green Bean Casserole: Keep the tradition and the taste with this healthy rendition of your family’s favorite dish. Use low-fat milk instead of condensed soup to add your spice without all the calories!
- Herb Roasted Turkey: Your main course doesn’t need all of the butter you’re used to basting it with; instead, use olive oil and lots of yummy spices to add a little flair and natural flavor to your beautiful bird.

Wellness Programs and Chair Massage Remain Popular
Exciting news! Updated reports and statistics verify that alternative medicine modalities are of growing interest! This trend is continuing to grow both in and outside of the office. This is hopeful on many fronts as it shows the interest and commitment on behalf of major employers and individual employees alike in improving wellness initiatives such as yoga, chair massage, and walking clubs.
Massages can offer more than relaxation, studies show:
Massages aren’t just for pampering — they can actually help treat a range of health issues, according to research from RMIT University and the Australian Association of Massage Therapy (AAMT). The report, called Effectiveness of Massage Therapy, looked at 740 studies from around the world, published between 1978 and 2008, to see just how beneficial massage can be for your health.
Massages Can Help With More Than Just Sore Muscles
The researchers determined that doctors and nurses should consider adding massage therapy to treatment plans for all kinds of conditions — from back pain, anxiety, and stress, to nausea and even chronic diseases. The report found evidence that massages can:
-
Alleviate and prevent DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) from exercise.
-
Improve lung function
-
And improve overall recovery and relaxation
A Look at the Different Massage Types
The team reviewed all sorts of massage techniques, including:
-
Swedish and sports massage
-
Reflexology and shiatsu
-
Bowen therapy and lymphatic drainage
-
Myofascial release
-
Trigger point therapy
-
And even infant massage
More Proof Massage Really Works
Tricia Hughes, CEO of AAMT, said the research shows that there’s a growing body of solid evidence behind massage therapy as a legitimate treatment — not just a luxury.
“We hope this report encourages more research and helps health professionals see massage as a real therapeutic option,” Hughes said.
She added that the findings give massage therapists and other health practitioners a strong foundation to build on and support evidence-based practice in the field.
What other programs could be introduced within your office?
