Enjoy a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!

ThanksgivingThanksgiving is a great time to be thankful for great clients, spend time with loved ones, and bond over delicious food. Are you ever torn between loving the holidays and hating the calories they entail? This Thanksgiving, don’t sacrifice taste for nutrition. As you shop for your holiday celebrations this week, keep these options in mind:

  • Sweet Potato Pecan Casserole: For this traditional treat, replace the butter with the sweet potatoes with eggs to keep the fluffiness without the fat. Garnish the top with pecans for a tasty and nutritious alternative to sugary toppings.
  • Herb and Apple Stuffing: By using whole wheat bread instead of white bread and apples instead of fatty fillers, take the guilt out of eating a second portion on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Apple Crisp: Throw out your apple pie recipe and replace it with this delicious, healthier alternative. Enjoy the sweetness of the brown sugar crumble without the fat of a buttery pie crust.
  • Green Bean Casserole: Keep the tradition and the taste with this healthy rendition of your family’s favorite dish. Use low-fat milk instead of condensed soup to add your spice without all the calories!
  • Herb Roasted Turkey: Your main course doesn’t need all of the butter you’re used to basting it with; instead, use olive oil and lots of yummy spices to add a little flair and natural flavor to your beautiful bird.

The holidays can be filled with fun family gatherings, crazy shopping trips, and lots of food (emphasis on the “lots”). While all of these things are great and enjoyable, the holiday season can be extremely stressful for many reasons. Too many things to do along with high expectations. Healthy eating can enable healthy lifestyles in and outside of the office!  Another idea is to schedule a wellness event in the office with a chair massage!

Though you could have stayed on track from January to October, the months with Thanksgiving and Christmas can easily undo all of your progress. Though unfair and frustrating, it is possible and all too easy to lose everything that you had worked so hard to gain.

While there are many ways to get off track, here are five big dangers that could lead to a defeated shopping trip to buy a bigger pair of pants:

  1. Getting off a schedule. The holidays can be a busy time that makes you feel that everything is a greater priority than your health. This is not true. You can still work out, eat right, and spend time in the kitchen cooking something nutritious (instead of going on a fast trip to Taco Bell). Schedule time to cook and to exercise- if you just “wing it” at the last minute, you most likely won’t be able to make it to the gym.
  2. Indulging in a “treat.” Yes, it is great to treat yourself every once in a while with a dessert or a break from exercise, but you also have to keep in mind why you’re working hard and how hard you’ve worked to get where you are. Don’t lose it all by slacking off for too long.
  3. Trying to cheer yourself up. The seasonal affective disorder runs rampant during the final months of the year. Longer nights, shorter hours of sunlight, and colder weather can often leave people feeling sad and can sometimes lead to depression. Make sure that you get some sunlight for at least 30 minutes during the day, and don’t try to lift your mood by eating the entire box of cookies.
  4. Becoming bored. Don’t keep cooking the same recipes and doing the same workout routine all year long. It is perfectly natural to feel uninterested after a while when you’re doing the same thing over and over again. Instead, try mixing things up by looking up new healthy recipes and finding new ways of working out. If you typically run, try boxing. Tired of yoga? Try swimming.
  5. Commit to “stay in shape” this holiday season by eating fruits and veggies before other foods at that next holiday party.

Staying healthy can be hard- there’s no denying that. The added stress of the holidays can often make the goals to stay in shape even harder. Give Corporate Massage Kneads a call and let us help you. Don’t let the stress get in the way of your health. Instead, focus on your wellness and make yourself a priority. You’re worth it.

Enjoy the holiday season, and stay healthy while doing it!  Have your HR department put together a quote from Corporate Massage Kneads to schedule your next in-office wellness program with a corporate chair massage program!

Remember the martyrs, thank the veterans.

Veterans Day – it means something different to each of us. Maybe it’s the day your neighbors gather together to make a vet feel special. Maybe it’s an excuse to wear red, white, and blue. Maybe it’s just another day off of work for you.

Whatever it’s been to you in the past, I challenge you to take the time to remember those who have served our country.

Every day, ordinary people with extraordinary courage and bravery protect and preserve the freedom that we so boldly proclaim. Their noble sacrifice of personal freedom so we can exercise ours is worthy of the utmost honor, praise, and thanks. But personal freedom is not the only cost of our country’s freedom and safety; life itself must sometimes be given to secure the freedom that we so effortlessly enjoy. Memorial Day is a day to remember those souls who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. I urge you to preserve the memory of those who have died in the service of our country.  Live with a thankful spirit.   Live in a manner that honors those who have given served in the military.

Though Veterans Day is set aside to remember those who have served our country, America.  It is also a perfect day to honor those who are still living. Write them a card, take them to lunch, and give them a gift.

At Corporate Massage Kneads, we believe that the gift of massage can greatly benefit veterans. Chair massage: Your GO TO for holiday stress

Many people around the world suffer from a similar issue day to day, stress. The people who are having these issues are realizing that they aren’t the only ones out there with this issue. There are people, however, mobile chair massage near me who seem to have no problem with stress and are always constantly stress-free. You might think that these people just happen to always be happy or these people are never busy; both of those statements are wrong. In fact, many of those are just as busy as you, but they know what activities to include in their weekly routine to keep the stress away. After looking around, I was able to find some of the ways that people who are stress-free schedule their week not including scheduling a chair massage event with us!

Meditation

By putting a few minutes of meditation per day into your schedule, you are able to reduce your stress levels. It is recommended that you meditate in the mornings so you can have a full 25-minute session without the worry of being interrupted. If you can’t fulfill a 25-minute session, it is always okay to have shorter sessions such as 10 or 15 minutes.

Exercise

The reduction of stress has always been linked to exercise. Many different articles and TV programs will tell you that the key to reducing stress is exercise. The best way to get exercise done is to make sure you set aside extra time in the morning to complete your workout session. Many people have the issue of other agendas within the day interrupting their time at the gym, causing them to miss a few days throughout the week.

Outdoors Time

It has been shown many times that being outside and getting natural sunlight and breathing in fresh air improves the conditions of people. Being able to be at one with nature and get away from the stressful environment indoors is a surefire way to help drop that stress level fast. So if you’re feeling overwhelmed with deadlines and dates, stepping outside for 30 minutes will definitely bring brightness to your mood.

Getting Enough Sleep

A feeling of being overwhelmed or angry is felt more often in people who get less than eight hours of sleep each night. I know that many of us have distractions that are keeping us away from hitting the hay at a decent time at night. Maybe you’re catching up on a new episode of your favorite show or maybe you’re even finishing up some work you didn’t get done. It is very important that you plan ahead and make sure you go to bed at a time that will allow you to go to bed on time. There is a strong correlation between your mood the next day and how many hours of sleep you’re getting.

These are all methods that people who are constantly stressed use to help them stay that way. By incorporating these ideas into your weekly schedule and making sure you follow through with them, you too will notice a difference in the way you feel. After you make these changes to your schedule you might still have a bit of stress that you want to get rid of.

Massage Kneads specializes in relieving stress in offices large and small.  Our highly trained and experienced mobile chair massage therapists will get you back to feeling great and energized, as well as stress-free!

This is what a regular client had to say about his recent experience!

Chair massages and treats add to Halloween!

chair massagesHalloween is ALMOST HERE and a fun time for all, with candy, costumes, social occasions, and maybe even chair massages! However, it can also be an extremely tricky time to eat healthy with all of the sugary treats and fun gatherings.  Check out some of these healthy, and yet fun, The greatest recipes that are tasty, healthy, and perfect for the Halloween holiday! By the way, a chair massage wellness event can add to the enjoyment of this special holiday!

Another idea would be to schedule and reward your office with a mobile chair massage for a healthy and productive environment for ALL!

Strawberry Ghosts

These chocolate ghosts come together before you can say “Boo!” Just dunk ripe strawberries in melted white chocolate and let them cool on a baking sheet in the fridge. Add mini chocolate chip eyes and mouths and they’re ready for spooky snacking.

Candy Corn Chicken Quesadillas

Start the evening with a nutritious, protein-rich dinner that will keep you fueled through hours of trick-or-treating (or Monster Mashing). Add some fiber by subbing in whole-wheat tortillas.

Gluten-Free Spiderweb Cupcakes

These healthier treats are made with almond flour, coconut oil, and unsweetened applesauce. Make the creepy-crawly design by dragging a toothpick through the center of concentric circles of icing.

Mummy Hot Dogs

This adorable snack is a festive Halloween classic! For a healthier take, swap in a soy dog or low-sodium chicken sausage. Our mummy is pretty well-wrapped, but try leaving some gaps for a spookier look.

Blood and Bones

This recipe provides two spooky recipes—bone-shaped meringues made of egg whites and sugar, and red-colored semisweet hot chocolate. Serve them together for a totally grown-up Halloween dessert.

Snack-o’-Lantern Fruit Cups

Looking for a festive way to serve dessert? Look no further—these carved-out oranges make a perfect container for fruit salad.

Frozen “Boo”-nana Pops These scarily yummy frozen banana pops are dipped in white chocolate, but for a healthier version try dunking in low-fat vanilla yogurt instead.

Witch’s Brooms Take a break from all the sweet stuff with these savory snacks. The witchy nibbles are made of sliced cheese, pretzel sticks, and chives—they’re magically easy to make.

Banana Mummies

These frozen desserts are made without gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, or nuts, so they’ll appeal to any guest at your Halloween party. What’s in them, then? Nothing but bananas, cocoa butter, and easy-to-make coconut sugar.

Carrot Rice Jack-o’-Lanterns

Take a step away from the mountains of candy and try this savory Halloween snack instead. The healthy secret behind these cute pumpkins? Carrot juice.

Vegan Peeps

These little ghosties are made with vegan marshmallow cream and a dusting of sparkly granulated sugar. Draw the faces with an edible marker or use chocolate bits or sprinkles.

Peanut Butter Pumpkins

Make a whole pumpkin patch of these no-bake treats and stay energized all night long. These pre-party bites are made with natural peanut butter, flax seeds, and rolled oats (a little chocolate doesn’t hurt either).
