Chair massage vs. your own desk!

Chair massage

Most clients I know are creatures of habit! Many of my regular clients prefer the same day, time, and type of onsite chair massage!

In corporate works, times are a-changin’. Many companies it seems are taking away your desk space to incorporate new idea-sharing and corporate cultures. First-come, first-served desks are all the rage with additional workspaces with new names i.e., “huddle rooms” and “touchdown spaces.”

Some employees are finding this a challenge while others find it invigorating! New environments with unassigned seating cause changes in small details that make an office feel like “home” away from home. Family photos are often shown digitally vs. on the desktop. Personal lockers are used to store personal items once stored on a desk.

Here are some tips I read to help the transition go a little bit smoother for those large companies thinking of making this change.

  • Set and share rules for new and shared meeting spaces
  • Require that a reservation be made in order to book a conference room
  • Create group texts or apps for team members to update on meeting spaces and places
  • Possible etiquette training on new systems and reserving new spaces
  • Clean spaces before and following meetings

We received this testimonial from a client that does make corporate chair massages a regular event!

Excellent!

“This was my 4th time getting a massage from David. As always, he was ready to start on time and was very thorough and precise with finding my trouble areas and getting the knots out.”

Chair massage is just right!

Chair massage

As a busy corporate massage therapist working in various corporate offices, I often see and personally experience the wide range of office temperatures around this time of year. Many workers have sweaters and long layers on while others have short sleeves and open-toed shoes. The range for comfort is vast when it comes to temperatures in today’s corporate office.

The Struggle is Real

As you may know (and experience in your own house), women often feel the temperatures differently than men. Some office workers confess to sneaking the temps up or down at their leisure leaving others to guess why the vast range for comfort.

What can be done to get the temperature just right? Here are a few suggestions which may work to avoid office drama!

  • Cooler drinks or warmer drinks ready and on hand
  • Layering clothes at work if the cold is a concern
  • More breaks and walks outside for those that desire warmer temps
  • Small desktop fans for those are the warmer side

The ideal setting for office temps

“According to the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE), Year-round settings of 68°F for heating and 78°F for cooling provide the most savings. To achieve a good balance between controlling your business energy budget and comfort use year-round, set the thermostat to 70°F for heating and 76°F for cooling.”

Five ideas; vacation & chair massage

Chair massage

The typical office worker sits at a desk all day long, hunching over computers because it’s his or her job. The worker types away, calling clients, organizing paperwork, selling products—all to help bring in the big bucks to his company, big or small. All the while, their head weighs down on the neck. The posture crumbles down through his or her spine. The fingers, curved over his keyboard, ache, while his or her wrists are threatened by carpal tunnel day in and day out. He’s tired, sore, and hungry for a little more attention from the company he’s [quite literally] breaking his back for. He or she is overworked and typically stressed for the majority of the day. Does this sound familiar? More information here on how to get more relaxation outside the office when not enjoying chair massage!

In reading studies online from the Project: Time Off, this organization notes that “Americans forfeited 212 million days, which is equivalent to $62.2 billion in lost benefits. That means employees donated an individual average of $561 in work time to their employer in 2017.”

Shocking as it reads, it is probably common to all as the typical office worker is tied to emails, conference calls, and projects through the ease and use of modern-day technologies with high-speed internet which allows for work in a variety of places.

Topping off the list of reasons why vacation was taken included the lack of coverage, scheduling, the cost of a vacation, and the corporate culture of taking and scheduling vacations.

Those that travel have the excitement of planning the trip along with the actual travel which creates a win-win! Does your corporate culture support some “kneaded” time away from the office? Happiness increases with job duties, personal relationships, and physical and mental well-being to name a few.

One suggestion is to “ease” into vacation plans and use up those days by planning long weekends including Fridays and Mondays out of the office.

Can’t get away for a vacation? Why “knot” include some of these ideas into your corporate culture to enhance and create stress relief in your office environment?

  • On-site mobile chair massage
  • Living Wall
  • Meditation Classes
  • Soothing tea and coffee bar
  • Outdoor gardens for relaxation

Chair massage enhances workspaces

2023 is bringing change to the office environment! Let Corporate Massage Kneads bring mobile chair massage to Maryland companies.

Ergonomic and productive workspaces are very “in” right now. As many large corporations draw their office staff back into the office, it is important to have functional workspaces to help transition workers.

Here are some tips that I have learned from different journals, websites, and daily newspapers.

Productivity is key here so one way to maximize your tasks is to clear the clutter on the desktop, files, and walls. As time-consuming as that sounds, the payoff is big to keep a fresh clear desktop to allow our minds to focus on the tasks at hand.

Here are some ideas for small investments which pay off BIG!

Digital scanner

A scanner is a beneficial investment as it saves paper, time in finding important documents, and space in the office.

Proper lighting

Natural light is ideal from windows and when not feasible, recessed lighting will also work. Avoiding desk lamps and floor lamps is key as it takes up valuable floor space and adds to the overall clutter.

Double monitors

Working from two monitors side by side allows for more flexibility with incoming emails, important reference documents, and productivity.

Comfortable common spaces to collaborate

Working collectively on large projects seems to be the trend now. Comfortable and inviting common spaces allow for dialogue and comfort during long work weeks.

Updated kitchen spaces including hot beverages!

An online survey (www.buildings.com) indicated that “73% of office workers said a well-stocked kitchen would make them happier at work, with 57% indicating that it could lead to increased productivity.” What other items would bring some happiness? Coffee, upscale teas, and possibly hot chocolate bring warmth and comfort while boosting productivity.

Clean and efficient offices

Having a regular cleaning to take away debris and trash from each office space goes a long way to boost and make the office more pleasant. An extra seating area in a larger office invites others to bring their ideas for bigger projects.

What else brings productivity, stress relief, and refreshment to your workday? A wellness program providing chair massage from Massage Kneads can enhance the workday experience with many benefits such as:

  • Increased morale and productivity.
  • Relief of stress and fatigue.
  • Relaxation to muscles and soothes the spirit.
  • Opens the mind and increases alertness.
  • Clears thinking and releases the individual’s innate creativity.
  • Increases brain power and sharpens the senses.

Is your business environment in need of some stress relief, wellness, AND productivity? Optimize health in your office and bring Corporate Massage Kneads to offer mobile chair massage in your office for some “kneaded” stress relief.

Coffee talk + chair massage = PERFECT

chair massage in MarylandWhen it comes to the working world, many of us run on coffee. Whether you enjoy the taste of this beverage or not, coffee is a quick and easy pick-me-up for times of need. Thankfully, there are a wide variety of options when picking your cup of joe in the morning. If you like more milk in your coffee you could opt for a latte and if it’s a hot and muggy morning, try an iced version. The possibilities are endless when it comes to this form of caffeine. Due to the different variants, these energy beans have to offer, you can begin to make changes in the way you drink your coffee. Just like coffee, chair massage requests vary by corporate clients.

Take One!

When you’re reaching over for some sugar packets, take a second to realize how much sugar you actually need. The truth is, many of us add too much sugar to our drinks. It’s certainly noticeable when you get to the bottom of the cup and there are sugar crystals forming. Try to cut back, if you normally use 4  packets, maybe try 3 or even 2. It doesn’t have to be drastic, any change is a step in the right direction. By cutting back, you may begin to enjoy some of the flavors your coffee already contains within. Low sugar amounts will help reduce any form of sugar crash that you may get from too much.

Alternate Creamer

When it comes to adding cream to your coffee, there are an insane amount of options you have. Whole, 2%, Nonfat, and Heavy Cream are some of the generic options you may opt for in your beverage. We all know that heavy cream and whole milk are not good for you. It’s easy to bring your way down to 2% or even nonfat milk. But there are more alternate options out there. Plant-based milk such as soy, almond, and coconut has a unique flavor and creamer value. Personally, I recommend almond milk. The calories are lower, the taste is creamy and it is generally deemed healthier than soy milk.

Coffee is very helpful in the working world and many of us take advantage of its ability to wake us up and keep us focused. However, it’s important to be smart and manage the way you take your coffee. Too much sugar or unhealthy creamer options can lead to crashes at the end of the day or even more severe problems down the line.

Add on-site chair massage for the PERFECT day!

Chair massage eases exam nerves!

Fall is a very important season for businesses and local colleges. NOW that I have a junior in college, it’s all the more real.

This is around the time when students, as well as their professors, can become very stressed out and tired. Many seek stress relief during this time of year. Exam season usually starts in December, which means students and their educators are now realizing there are only 2 months away until the testing begins. These tests are very important and can make or break your grade for the courses you are taking. Teachers also want you to do well because the district will be looking at how well they prepared their class for the material contained in the final. I have a few tips for educators as well as students during this cram session that many of them will undergo within the upcoming weeks.

Don’t wait till the last moment

While it is nearly impossible to prevent all studying right before final exams, there are a few small things you can do to make it a bit smoother. Study guides are sometimes given by teachers to their students to help them get a good grades on a test. Those study guides are actually also very helpful for the final. Getting a binder is a good step in the right direction for helping keep all of your study materials together when the time comes for the finals. Keep tabs for each class and keep all your study guides as well as your tests and quizzes for the class in the sections. Being able to see what you didn’t do so well on is good so that you can study those specific aspects more in-depth, preventing you from missing them again.

Educators also help out with this one a little bit. Many of today’s programs used for testing will be electronic and online. They show you the questions you missed and you are able to see them. If you have any questions about how to get the answer or why yours was not right, your professor will more than likely help you out with those. Just remember, as a student, your professors may want you to be able to find the answers on your own rather than asking them.

Wellness

Once you have found a good organizational method that helps you keep your materials in one place, it’s time to focus on your personal wellness and relaxation. Many colleges offer programs that are there for you to use including mobile chair massage. These are known as wellness programs and they are a wide variety of different activities for you to do. Fitness centers, pools, and trails may be available on campus to help out with physical stress. Activity generally decreases the stress in your body and can help keep your energy levels more stable. It is also important to sit back and relax sometimes too. Libraries and quiet places to clear your mind might be on campus to help you get some time to yourself.

Chair massage companies specialize in these types of offerings. Corporate Massage Kneads can offer a turn-key program that is easy to schedule and allows for great results.  We will come and work with students and educators to help eliminate that exam stress. Schedule your wellness programs NOW.

Mobile chair massage, chair yoga, and other wellness programs enhance productivity throughout the day and week. The benefits of mobile chair massage are many including increased productivity, improved mental acuity, decreased stress, decreased absenteeism due to stress-related illnesses along with fewer aches and pains from prolonged sitting.

My local client was thrilled with his experience last week. Wouldn’t you to enjoy the same results? See other testimonials here!

Highly Recommended!
“I carry a lot of tension in my back and shoulders… In just a short amount of time, Janet is able to get out all the “kinks.” It really does make a world of difference to me. Also, based on what’s bothering me the most at the time of my visit, Janet is able to customize the therapy for my back, neck, or shoulder issues with the right amount of pressure to alleviate the tension and discomfort. Thanks as always!”
